You've come to the right place. We've spent countless hours testing every major model in every sub-genre, from DSLRs to compacts and full-frame powerhouses, to bring you this guide to the best cameras in the world right now. Choosing the right camera for you depends on a few different factors. Your budget, of course, but also your experience and preferred kind of photography. Whether you're a beginner looking to upgrade from your smartphone, or a more experienced photographer in need of the latest high-end specs, choosing the right camera involves figuring out your needs and matching them up with our guide.

Which is the best outright all-rounder? Right now, our pick is still the Nikon Z6. It's a lightweight, great value full-frame camera that's versatile enough for all kinds of photographer.

But the picture can change very quickly. We're in the process of testing new models like the Canon EOS R6, so the camera competition is likely to hot up.

Right now, though, this list contains all of the best cameras you can buy right now. Black Friday and Cyber Monday can be a great time to pick up a discount on a new camera. It officially starts on November 27, but we're expecting deals to start rolling in from early November. It's particularly worth keeping your eye on models that have recently been succeeded the Nikon Z6, for example or even cameras that are now two generations old, like the Fujifilm X-T2.

While features like autofocus and burst shooting speeds have improved in recent years, the pure image quality of older cameras remains very competitive with today's models. If you can't quite wait that long, don't forget to keep an eye out for bargains during Amazon Prime Daywhich kicks off on October While there are unlikely to be quite as many camera deals as those on offer during Black Friday, it can be a good time to pick up some cut-price accessories including memory cards, lenses and portable hard-drives.

The Nikon Z6 remains our favorite all-round camera. But with the Nikon Z6 II is now officially en route, how much longer will it remain our number one? Its successor is likely to be an incremental upgrade, so we'll have to wait and see how it fares against the increasingly hot full-frame competition.

But for now, the Nikon Z6 remains excellent value. A fantastic all-rounder with superb handling, nothing else has quite come close to matching its combination of versatility, usability and affordability. The Z6 combines both excellent stills and 4K video quality with everything else that's key for a full-frame mirrorless camera.

That means you get a lightweight, compact body that still manages to handle beautifully on account of a substantial and ergonomically designed grip. There's also a sharp and crisp 3. Recent updates have also added treats like Eye AF recently, which helps it to compete against Sony's tempting Alpha line. But it still has excellent ergonomics, fitting comfortably into your hand, with all the controls easy to reach. We were impressed with the Sony a's ability to take sharp, clear photos no matter the situation; its intelligent, fast autofocus certainly helped, as did its 11fps shooting speed.

And, with a rated battery life of shots, you should be able to get through an entire day without needing a recharge. The a can also record 4K video, and has a microphone jack for picking up better audio.

With Nikon's traditional d-pad and a number of dials and knobs, it's great for experienced photographers looking for full-featured manual controls, while still including a number of assisted shooting modes to help teach and educate beginners.

However, that's not unreasonable for a camera at this price, and it has a dedicated microphone jack. All in all, it's a great kit.How do you choose the best camera when there are so many?

It's by no means the most advanced DSLR you can get, but its simplicity, its controls and the quality of the images it can create make it our top recommendation for anyone just starting out. The Canon EOS Rebel SL3 called the EOS D in Europe is a terrific camera for beginners, because although it costs a little more than entry-level models like the Nikon Dit has lots of features to make picture taking easier and more exciting, and the potential to take on more advanced projects as your skills grow.

The megapixel APS-C sensor delivers great results, but the star of the show is Canon's advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, which makes the live view autofocus when you use the rear screen rather than the viewfinder extremely fast and responsive. Better still, the rear screen is both fully-articulating and touch-sensitive, so you can take pictures at all sorts of odd angles, and for the first time in a DSLR at this price it's possible to shoot 4K video — this is the perfect DSLR for bloggers and vloggers, not just regular photographers.

The finest cameras in phones meld intricate optics and sensors with software algorithms that rely upon math and science to extract the best possible light, color and detail out of every scenario. It's not just about the number of lenses on the back, either — some phone makers are even leveraging artificial intelligence to make their post processing even better. All this is to say there's much more that goes into a great smartphone camera than a nice lens and a high-megapixel sensor.

With that in mind, and after hundreds of hours of testing, we've rounded up this list of the best camera phones for various different use cases, and at a variety of price points. The new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has taken the top spot in our testing of the best camera phones, thanks to its sophisticated triple-lens camera system led by a super-high resolution megapixel primary camera and MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom.

The Note 20's camera system borrows heavily from the Galaxy S20 Ultra but corrects that phone's focusing glitches with a new laser autofocus system, truly realizing the potential of Samsung's cutting-edge mobile imaging technology. That's not to say the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max aren't still excellent camera phones. Although Apple's handsets don't have dazzling specs, they still deliver images that rival or exceed the Note 20 Ultra's best efforts, even if they're less comprehensive and versatile camera phones overall.

And Apple's camera phone offerings are going to change this month, with an iPhone 12 launch event scheduled for Oct. If you're an Android phone who balks at the Note 20 Ultra's steep price tag, turn to the less expensive Galaxy Note It's got a more modest main shooter, but the telephoto lens is terrific.

Those who really want to maximize their photography on-the-go but spend as little as possible are well advised to check out the new Google Pixel 4a or iPhone SE. They're two of the best cheap phones out there, because they guarantee phenomenal image quality despite costing less than half the price of their premium counterparts.

Both handsets feature dual-lens camera systems, swapping out the Pixel 4's telephoto secondary lens for an ultrawide optic. You can look forward to our impressions of Mountain View's latest phones in the coming weeks. Display: 6. The new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the best camera phone you can buy today because it does everything well. Its primary megapixel camera, which showed promise in the Galaxy S20 Ultra earlier this year but was hampered by glitches, has been improved with the use of a new dedicated laser auto focus sensor.

The MP telephoto uses a folded lens design to achieve 5x optical power, which obliterates the 2x optical zoom of the iPhone 11 Pro and can deliver lossless 10x zoom as well as up to 50x digital zoom. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra doesn't deliver better photos than Apple's premium iPhones in every instance; for example, it overly smooths faces in portrait shots, and has a tendency to blow out highlights. But there isn't much separating the overall image quality of these phones, plus the Note 20 Ultra offers infinitely more versatility, thanks to that high-megapixel lens and peerless zoom power.Capture all of life's special moments—whether you prefer a simple point-and-shoot, SLR, or need a rugged waterproof camera.
